Abstract�� The Jatropha curcas seed was used as raw material for extracting saponins and steroids with 95% ethanol as extraction solvent,and the extraction conditions were optimized.The extracts were identified by using chemical and spectrum method.Results showed that the optimal extraction conditions are as follows:extraction time 8 h,mass ratio of raw material to extraction solvent 1:8 and reflux temperature 60 ��.The extraction ratio of saponins and steroids are 0.397% and 0.302% respectively under the optimal conditions.
