Abstract The prevention and control of food-borne stimulants are primary jobs for sports competition management institutions and food supply service. This paper introduced the source and classification of food-borne stimulants, and analyzed the positive cases of food-borne stimulants that were ingested by mistake in China and abroad from 2008 to 2018, mainly on their types of products, accidentally ingested reasons, positive components and classification as well as the main characteristics. Finally, through the combing of the progress in regulations and standards of food-borne stimulants in recent years, we proposed ideas for strengthening the detecting research and prevention management of food-borne stimulants in China.
