Abstract: In recent years, the eutrophication of freshwater bodies has led to the proliferation of algae and related algal toxin contamination has been widely reported worldwide. Microcystins (MCs) are toxic metabolites produced by algae such as Microcystis and Anabaena. They are widely distributed, stable in structure and highly toxic. they can enter the human body through drinking water, aquatic products and crops, and have toxic effects on the liver, kidney, reproduction, nervous system, posing a serious threat to human health. In this paper, the toxicity and toxic mechanism of MCs were reviewed and analyzed, which has certain reference value for the prevention and treatment of MCs.
