Abstract: Objective: The effect and mechanisms of konjac mannooligosaccharides (KMOS) on anti-obesity and anti-chronic inflammation in high fat diet induced obese mice. Methods: Ten-weeks-old healthy male C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into 7 groups. After 12 weeks of continuous feeding, body weight, body fat, blood lipids, and antioxidant activity indicators were detected. Lipid metabolism related indicators and gene expression of adipose tissue and liver tissue were analyzed. Results: KMOS effectively reduced weight (36.53%), body fat mass (52.13%) and blood lipid levels in mice induced by high-fat diet; inhibited inflammatory factors release and increased antioxidant enzyme activity; reduced fat cell volume and inhibited lipid metabolism related indicators and gene expressions in liver and adipose tissues. Conclusion: KMOS could prevent obesity, and inhibits chronic inflammation and oxidative stress induced by obesity. It provides a scientific basis for the development of KMOS as functional dietary supplements for anti-obesity and anti-chronic disease.
