Abstract: The origin dicrimination technology of peach was studied and established, to provide technical support for the protection of geographical indication product and tracing the origin of agricultural products. Ninety-two samples of common peach from four producing areas in the counties of Shunping, Laoting and Yongqing of Hebei Province and Pinggu District of Beijing were collected in this study. The stable carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen and oxygen isotope ratios in peach were determined by elemental analysis-isotope ratio mass spectrometer. Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry was used to determine the contents of 16 rare earth elements. Multiple comparative analysis and general discriminant analysis, the origin discrimination model of peach was established. Multiple comparative analysis showed that there were significant differences in nitrogen isotopes between Pinggu peach and other producing areas (p < 0.05); carbon and oxygen isotope ratios between hilly region (Pinggu and Shunping) and plain region (Laoting and Yongqing) peaches (p < 0.05) were quite different, and differences of Ce , Eu, Gd and Er contents from different places were significant(p < 0.05). According to results of multiple comparative analysis, four stable isotopes (δ13C, δ15N, δ2H and δ18O) and eight rare earth element (Y, Ce, Eu, Sm, Pr, Nd, Gd and Er) were screened out for general discriminant analysis. Three discriminant functions with significant correlation were determined. The overall correct discriminant rates for backdating test and cross test of original peach samples from different origins were 97.8% and 95.7%, respectively. Using stable isotope and rare earth element fingerprint analysis combined with chemometrics is feasible to identify the origin of peach in small spatial scale.
