Abstract: Abstract: Intestinal microflora is involved in the development of metabolic syndrome, which is composed of insulin resistance, hyperglycemia, dyslipidemia, central obesity and hypertension. Plant polyphenols can promote the growth of beneficial bacteria in intestinal microflora and indirectly reduce the number of pathogenic bacteria. Moreover, intestinal microbiota can metabolize high molecular weight plant polyphenols into more bioactive metabolites to improve their bioavailability. In this paper, the interaction between plant polyphenols and intestinal microflora and their effects on metabolic diseases are reviewed, which can provide reference for the utilization of plant polyphenols.
