Abstract: The recently proclaimed"Food Protection Plan"was read up by US Food and Drug Administration(US FDA) which is an integrated strategy for protecting the nation’s food supply.The possible impact on China by the new US maneuver in food protection and food importation supervision was elucidated,and some countermeasures were proposed.It is believed that the new food monitoring move presents a fresh challenge to the validity of China’s food export safety system,and may augment the burden of our enterprises that export food to USA,leading to elimination of some of these firms and the sudden uprise of the third party supervisory bodies approved by America on our soil.The proposals included:keeping close attention to new maneuvers of US food protection plan and food importation supervision,assessing the possible impact of the newly adopted US food protection plan on our country,giving concerned study of the trend in the evolution and operation of third party supervisory bodies,enhancing the exchange and cooperation with US FDA in the sphere of food quality monitoring,initiating a project for research on US food protection and food importation supervision,and reinforcing of our safety guarantee system for imported and exported food.
