Abstract: This paper is aimed to construct a food safety and nutrition information collection and analysis platform with new internet technologies including big data to improve the analytic capacity and the data-mining capability, and thereby to provide more accurate and comprehensive food safety and nutrition information for government agencies, food companies, guilds, inspection organizations, consumers, and social media. Based on big data features of food safety in Guizhou province, a cloud computing and big data-based service platform composed of four layers was proposed which integrates data acquisition, analysis and application. The “food safety cloud” (www.fsnip.com) based on the proposed method has attained relatively significant achievements such as promoting data connectivity, improving the work efficiency, and reducing the cost of food safety governance. Thus, the platform can improve the efficiency of food safety governance.
