Abstract: Folic acid is a water-soluble B vitamin. The rapid and accurate detection of folic acid is of great significance for ensuring the safety and effectiveness of food and medicine and assisting in the clinical diagnosis of diseases. In recent years, folic acid sensors based on fluorescent probes have received more and more attention due to their fast response, high sensitivity and convenience. In this review, the construction and characteristics of fluorescence sensors based on different sensing materials for the detection of folic acid are summarized. Moreover, the application of these sensors in food and drug quality control, clinical detection and evaluation, and cell imaging is reviewed. Finally, future directions and prospects are discussed.
