Abstract: To observe the effect of flavonoids from Sonchus oleraceus L on the blood lipid and its hepatoprotective efficacy in hyperlipidemic mice. We selected sixty male ICR mice, which were randomly divided into six groups: normal control group, high fat model group, positive control group (Simvastatin,10 mg·kg-1), low dose group of FSOL (50mg·kg-1), middle does group of FSOL (100 mg·kg-1), high does group of FSOL (200 mg·kg-1). The normal control group was fed with basic diet, and the other groups were fed with high fat diet. After 5 weeks, serum TC, TG, LDL-C, HDL-C, ALT, AST, MDA, SOD and liver TC, TG, MDA, SOD were detected, and morphological changes in liver of mice were observed. The results show that FSOL could prevent the obesity induced by high fat diet, the serum TC, TG, LDL-C, ALT, AST, MDA and Atherosclerosis index(AI) levels were also reduced. In addition, the levels of HDL-C and SOD have increased to varying degrees. It shows that FSOL has better hypolipidemic and hepatoprotective effects on hyperlipidemia mice, and the reason may be related with liver lipid metabolism improvement and antioxidant function enhancement. This provides a theoretical basis for the development and utilization of FSOL.
