     Dr. Yong Sun

Editor-in-Chief

 

Dr. Sun is an associate researcher of food chemistry and nutrition at Beijing Academy of Food Sciences, he obtained his PhD degree in Food Science at Nanjing Agricultural University (China) and conducted his postdoctoral studies at Tsinghua University (China).

Dr. Sun has published over 34 papers in refereed journals in food science and academic publishing. His research is focused on functional foods, health implications of bioactive food components, the application of prebiotics and probiotics to the field of gut health, with an special interest on bioactive compounds from edible fungi.

Dr. Sun plays the leading role in planning Food Science’s publishing policy, he is responsible for editorial board development, coordinating peer review and making independent manuscript decisions, overseeing editorial decision-making processes, signing-off editorial marketing, social media and press release content, etc..

Dr. Sun maintains good relationships with the Editorial Board Members and the wider scientific community. He has thorough knowledge of the scientific community and its needs, and has organized/chaired over 40 international/national food science conference.

Dr. Sun has considerable experience in the management of journal workflow. He is also editor-in-chief of Meat Research (in Chinese), managing editor of Food Science and Human Wellness (in English, Published by Elsevier) and Journal of Dairy Science and Technology (in Chinese).

Dr. Sun is general secretary of Division of Postharvest and Processing of Edible Fungi, Mycological Society of China (MSC), a member of Chinese Society of Agricultural Engineering, Chinese Association of Animal Products Processing, Beijing Food Institute.

In 2019, Dr. Sun received Capital Labor Medal from Beijing Federation of Trade Unions; in 2013, Best Chief Editor Award from the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of The People’s Republic of China (SAPPRFT); in 2003, Technology Award from China General Chamber of Commerce.
