Abstract: Due to the potential toxicity and health risk of bisphenol A and epoxy derivatives thereof, the application of can linings for food packaging has been strictly prohibited in China, the United States and the European Union. In this article, the structures, application, toxicity, migration and analytical methods of four bisphenol compounds such as bisphenol A (BPA), bisphenol A diglycidyl ether (BADGE), bisphenol F (BPF) and bisphenol F diglycidyl ether (BFDGE) are summarized. Meanwhile, recent applications of solid-phase extraction in the sample pre-treatment for determination of these bisphenol compounds are reviewed in brief.
