Probiotics are living bacteria which can promote host health and has immunoregulatory functions. This review summarizes the immunomodulatory effect of supplementary probiotics on the innate immunity and adaptive immunity of obese subjects and discusses the influence of strain specificity, dosage, supplementation regimes and host status on the immunomodulatory effect. This review provides a better understanding of the immunomodulatory effect of probiotic supplementation on obese subjects, which will provide a reference for the rational application of probiotics.
