Effects of Puerarin on Blood Glucose and Serum Antioxidant Capacity in Diabetic Rats

Abstract:  To investigate the effects of puerarin on blood sugar and serum antioxidant capacity in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. The level of blood sugar in the diabetic control group always increased,the results of T-AOC,SOD,GSH-PX,GSH,CAT reduced very notably,the content of MDA increased significantly. But The level of blood sugar and MDA in the diabetic administrated group declined significantly,the results of T-AOC,SOD,GSH-PX,GSH,CAT and MDA increased very notably. This study showed that puerarin administration could reduce the level of blood sugar,increase the content of insulin and improve antioxidant capacity in diabetic rats.
