Abstract: Objective: To establish a HPLC method for the determination of schizandra, deoxyschizadra and γ-schizandra in Schisandra chinensis (Turcz.) Baill, so as to investigate their contents in different parts. Methods: The determination was performed on a Symmetry C18 column (4.6 mm × 150 mm, 5 μm). The mobile phase consisted of methanol-acetonitrile-water (1:1:1) with the flow rate of 1 ml/min. The wavelength was set at 250 nm. Results: A good linearity was obtained with the correlationcoefficients ranged from 0.04~0.2 mg/ml (r=0.9999). The average recoveries were 103.03%, 99.83%, and 101.55% with corresponding RSDs of 0.99%, 2.15% and 1.39%, respectively(n=10). Conclusion: The HPLC method shows a good separation, reproducibility and accuracy. It can be used for determining schizandra, deoxyschizadra and γ-schizandra in herbs. The contents of schizandra, deoxyschizadra and γ-schizandra are different in different parts of Schisandra chinensis (Turcz.) Baill.
