Abstract: The methods of high performance liquid(HPLC) chromatography and inductively-coupled plasmas atomic emission spectrometry were used to determine the contents of amino acids and mineral elements in the shells of Paphia undulata and Pinctada maxima(Jameson). Results showed that Pinctada maxima(Jameson) shell contains 13 kinds of both amino acids and mineral elements, and Paphia undulata shell contains 8 kinds of amino acids and 13 kinds of mineral element. These results can provide scientific evidences for the application and development of the shells.
