Abstract: A hemicellulose polysaccharide coded as PAP4-II was isolated from pineapple pomace by alkaline-water extraction and purified by ion change chromatography and size exclusion chromatography, and its immunobiological activity was assayed. PAP4-II is an acidic compound containing 4.75% protein and 55.13% polysaccharide. Its structural characteristics were investigated by HPLC, UV and IR. Based on the data obtained, PAP4-II consists of xylose and arabinose, and their contents are 54.02 mg/g and 39.32 mg/g respectively. It contains uronic acid with a molecular weight of 1690 kDa. The immunobiological activity of PAP4-II was studied by T and B lymph cells experiment. Results showed that it has inhibiting effects on the increase of T and B lymph cells.
