Abstract: Volatile components in wild Paeconia latiflora were extracted by the technique of supercritical CO2 extraction, chemical compositions of the extracts were analyzed by means of GC-MS and their scanvenging functions were studied by ortho-triphenol superoxide radical formation method. Results showed that the extracts obtained by supercritical CO2e xtraction with 70% of ethanol as an entrainer contain mainly benzoic acid, phenol, salicylalcohol with antibiotic activity, 2-hydroxybenzaldehyde, 2-methoxy-4-vinylphenol, phenol and 2-methyl-5-butylphenol which is very similar to BTH structurally. The study on the superoxide radical scanvenging showed that the IC50 is as high as 1.013 g/L. The wild Paeconia latiflora can be useda s natural excellenta ntibiotica nda ntioxidem aterial.
