Study on Quality Standard of Fruit of Trapa manshurica

Abstract:  Objective: To establish quality standard for fruit of Trapa manshurica. Methods Thin layer chromatography was used to test the active compound - gallic acid in fruit of Trapa manshurica and HPLC was used to determine the content of gallic acid. The moisture, heavy metal and extract in fruit of Trapa manshurica were determined according to‘ Chinese Pharmacopoeia’. Results: Content of gallic acid in fruit of Trapa manshurica is 0.08%. Conclusion: It is very important to establish the quality standard of fruit of Trapa manshurica in order to develop it into a new medicine.
