Abstract: Nankun shan tea leaf variety was a world rare tea resource not containing caffeine.The chromosome number and karyotype analysis showed that it was a kind of evolutionary arboreous macrophyllous tea phant.In the variety,81.82％ of the single plant were non－ caffeine or of low caffeine content. But the rest biochemical compositions besides alkaloid were of no greater shan different than the high caffeine content plant.
