Abstract: Campylobacter is one of the major pathogens causing human diarrhea. Therefore, rapid and specific detection of Campylobacter is of vital importance to control the transmission of this pathogen. In this article, the analytical methods at the protein and nucleic acid levels that have been applied in the rapid detection of Campylobacter are described. Furthermore, future research directions for the development of new detection technologies are discussed. This review is expected to provide useful information for the development of rapid, accurate, efficient, low-cost and high throughput detection methods for Campylobacter.
