Abstract: Abstract: This experiment first optimized the purification method of the pigment in Chestnut shells, then analyzed the chemical properties, UV spectrum and IR spectrum. The results of silica gel column chromatography indicated that the new method is simple and effective. The UV spectrum analysis showed that :(1) In methanol solution, there were strong absorbed peak near 218nm and weak absorbed peak near 264nm. (2)In pH=3.0,4.0 NaOH-HCl solution, there were apparent absorption peaks near 218nm and 264nm, small absorption peak near 480nm.(3) In pH=5.0,6.0 NaOH-HCl solution, there were apparent absorption peaks near 218nm and 272nm, small absorption peak near 510nm, so did the UV spectrum in alkaline solution. IR spectrum revealed that the main absorption wavenumbers of pigment were 3400、3145、3043、1715、1630、1400、1036 and 620cm-1. According to the results of chemical properties analysis , it is concluded preliminarily that there were benzene ring and phenolic hydroxyl , but not the tipical flavonoids structure existing in the chemical structure of the pigment.
