Abstract: Random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) has a promising prospect for applications in yeast classification and identification, genetic relationship confirmation among yeast species, and breeding. It is a rapid and sensitive method to analyze microbial characters. In this paper, the recent applications of RAPD in the classification, identification and breeding of yeasts are summarized and the current research hot topics on RAPD are also discussed.

Key words: RAPD, Saccharomyces, classification, identification, breeding
