Abstract:  This study was conducted to investigate the effect of pine-seed oil on serum lipid and lipid peroxidationto experimental hyperlipidemia in rats.Male adult wistar rats were fed on the test diet containing 94% hyperlipid dietand 6%pine-seed oil for 3 weeks. The result showed that the value of trilyceride(TG).total cholesterol (TC),lowdensity lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C).LDL-C/high density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C) ratio, atherogenicindex (AI) increased and the value of HDL-C/TC ratio decreased in the group with pine-seed oil supplemenation wereless than that the model control group with lard supplemenation.Compared with the normal group.the glutathion perosidase (GSH-PX) activity was lower and lipid peroxide (LPO)level was higher in liver of rats feeding lipid-rich food .But LPO level in pine-seed oil group was lower than that ofevening primrose seed oil group. These results suggested that utilzation of pine-seed oil to regulate serum lipid andprevent atherosclerosis.
