Abstract: Using saccharide from corn starch hydrolysate as a sole carbon source, the factors (nitrogen sources, carbon-nitrogenratio, metal ions, the volume of inoculation, initial pH value of the medium, aeration rate and temperature) affecting 2-keto-D-gluconic acid fermentation by bacteriophage-resistant mutant Pseudomonas fluorescens AR4 were investigated. The resultsshowed that the production of 2-keto-D-glluconic acid was significantly affected by nitrogen sources, carbon-nitrogen ratio, initial pH value of the medium, aeration rate and temperature. Under the suitable fermentation conditions, the acid yield and theconversion rate was about 13.5% and 90% respectively.
