Abstract: As one kind of oxidases, catalases can be found in almost all animals, plants and microorganisms. Catalases can catalyse the decomposition of the cellular hydrogen-peroxide and thus protect membrane lipid against peroxidation. A catalase from pig blood has been purified by the use of sephadex G-100 and PEG-6000 chromatography. It has biggest activity at pH7.4, and 20~ 40℃. There were different effection for different metal ions.

Key words: hydrogen peroxidase(catalase), pig blood, extraction
