Abstract: To study the VB6 action on the lipid metabolism, rats were fed with a rich in linoleic acid (ω-6) or α–linolenic acid (ω-6) as lipid sources with high protein diet, the effects of VB6 deficiency on the metabolism of essential fatty acids were studied. The results showed that under VB6 deficiency conditions, the activity of △6-desaturase in liver microsome greatly decrease and the metabolism of essential fatty acid is inhibited markedly. The lack of dietary VB6 causes the accumulation of linoleic acid or α–linolenic acid, with the decrease of metabolic products observably in rat body.
