Abstract: Soxlet extraction, alkali extraction and water bathe extraction methods were employed to extract the total flavonoids from roots, stems, leaves of Schisandra Propinqua, the contents of total flavonoids and were determined by means of aluminium nitrate colouration approach. The experiment results indicated that the optimum extraction method of the total flavonoids from the different parts in Schisandra Propinqua is Soxlet extraction. By extracting lipid with benzine in 2 h under 50 ℃ and then extracting total flavonoids by 85% ethanol (material ratio 1:15) in 3 h under 70 ℃, the total flavonoids content of the roots, stems and leaves in Schisandra Propinqua are 1.67%, 0.94% and 2.35% respectively.
