Abstract: Objective:To study the extraction process of effective components for scavenging free radical from Polygonum multiglorum Thunb. Methods:Response surface methodology(RSM) was applied to study effects of extraction temperature, ethanol concentration, extraction time and solid to liquid ratio on extraction yield of anthraquinone and stilbene glycoside as well as clearance rate of the extracts to DPPH radical. Results:The optimal extraction conditions are:temperature 62 ℃,ethanol concentration 81%,extraction time 60 min and solid to liquid ratio 10:1. Under these conditions, the yields of anthraquinone and stilbene glycoside are 1.06% and 5.03% respectively, and the clearance rate to DPPH is 58.7%.
