Abstract: A gas chromatography-mass spectrometry method was established to determine 2,4-D butyl ester in meat and meat products. Samples were extracted using acetonitrile and purified on florisil solid-phase extraction cartridge, quantified by external standard method. This reliable and stable method exhibited recovery rates of more than 70% at spike levels ranging from 5 to 100μg/kg, relative standard deviations of 1.0%-3.6%, a linear regression coefficient of 0.99996 and a detection limit of 5μg/kg.

Key words: 2,4-D butyl ester, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, meat and meat products
