Abstract:

For the purpose of providing theoretical references for the development of healthcare foods which can offer cardiovascular protection, the hypolipidemic and antioxidation effects of selenium-enriched mycelia of Diasporangium sp., milk vinegar and selenium-enriched mycelia of Diasporangium sp. plus milk vinegar on mice were investigated. Eighty-four male Kunming mice were randomly divided into control, high fat model, sodium selenite, Diasporangium sp., selenium-enriched Diasporangium sp., milk vinegar and milk vinegar plus selenium-enriched Diasporangium sp. groups. After 30 d feeding stage, the changes in serum lipid, viscera index, antioxidation system level, Se content and fatty acids of liver and body weight were observed. Selenium-enriched mycelia of Diasporangium sp. could significantly reduce low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG) and increase high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C). The activities of serum surperoxide dismutase (SOD) and lutathione peroixdase (GSH-Px) in the selenium-enriched Diasporangium sp. group were significantly higher than those in the other groups, and the malondialdehyde (MDA) level was significantly lower. All the measured indexes of mice fed selenium-enriched Diasporangium sp. plus milk vinegar were better than those of mice only fed selenium-enriched Diasporangium sp.. The Se content of the sodium selenite group was significantly higher than that of the control group, but lower than those of the selenium-enriched Diasporangium sp. and the milk vinegar plus selenium-enriched Diasporangium sp. groups. The content of arachidonic acid of the selenium-enriched Diasporangium sp. group reached 11.94%, which was significantly increased. The results showed that selenium-enriched Diasporangium sp. is able to significantly reduce blood lipid and enhance antioxidation function in mice and the combination of it and milk vinegar has much better effects than those of other groups.
