Abstract: Objective: To observe the inhibition effect of Lycium barbarum polysaccharides (LBP) on germ cells’ damage inducedby chemicals. Methods: Comet assay was used to determine the frequencies of cells with tail moment and the tail lengths. Fourgroups were divided: normal control group; positive control group with testicle cells given hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)only; LBPcontrol group with testicle cells cultured with different concentration of LBP and LBP+H2O2 group with testicle cells treatedby different concentrations of LBP for 1h firstly ,and then cultured with H2O2 for 25min. Results: LBP at all conconcentrationscould markedly decrease the frequencies of cells with tail moment and the tail lengths of testicle cells treated by H2O2,and thedosage-response relationships were apparent between them. Conclusions: LBP could inhibit testicle cells’ damage induced byH2O2, hence enhance the significant protective action to germ cells.
