Abstract: The antimicrobial effects of aqueous alcohol extract from pterula umbrinella Bres. against three kinds of germs, two kinds of yeasts and two kinds of molds were studied. The results showed that pterula umbrinella Bres. extract has antimicrobial effects against Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Saccharomyes cerevisiae, Rhodotorula sp., Aspergillus niger and Penicillium citrimum. The minimum inhibition concentrations(MIC) against these tested strains are 0.5%, 0.5%, 1.0%, 3.0%, 3.0%, 2.5% and 2.5% respectively. Temperature has little influence on the antimicrobial effect of pterula umbrinella Bres. extract.
