Pelleting Natural Zeolite-Chitosan for Apple Juice Clarification

Abstract: A solid adsorbent pollet was made from natural zeolite and chitosan to be used for clarification of fruit juices. 80 mesh natural zeolite was added in chitosan slurry of 90% degree of deacetylation to prepare adsorbent pellets with mass ratio 1:1.2. The optimal operation conditions are absorbent amount 8 g/L and agitation time 4 min at 45 ℃ with transparence 80%. The filtrate slurry can be used as feed additives without environmental pollution problem.
