Abstract: It reported a simple method for the lab-scale isolation Of chitosan from hyphal walls of Absidia coerulea. After fermentation for 72h, Chitosan showed a yield of 11. 72% of the dry weigyt of mycelia. Purity of such chitosan was 89. 36%, free NH2 was 92. 13%, viscosity was 230 MPa· s, average molecular weight was 3 × 105, ash was 8. 62% and water was 3. 78%.
