The Evaluation of the Health Care Functions of Cordyceps Polysaccharide Fruit Vinegar

Abstract: Objectives: Both of cordyceps polysaccharide and fruit vinegar have beneficial efficacy on human. In this study, we combined the both and evaluated the biological activities of cordyceps polysaccharide fruit vinegar for anti-fatigue, enhancing immune function, auxiliary lipid-lowering and auxiliary hypoglycemic effect. Methods: Firstly cordyceps polysaccharide was extracted from cordyceps fruit bodies. Then apple vinegar stock solution was prepared by alcohol fermentation and acetic fermentation. Apple vinegar was made on the basis of vinegar stock solution. Cordyceps polysaccharide vinegar was prepared by adding different dosage of cordyceps polysaccharide in apple vinegar according to experiment design. After the adult mice were chronically administered with different dosage of cordyceps polysaccharide apple vinegar, loaned-swimming test, liver glycogen content and blood lactate test content detection after swimmning was conducted to determine the anti-fatigue increasing effect of cordyceps polysaccharide apple vinegar to mice. Suppression of delayed type hypersensitivity and strengthening carbon cleance were conducted to dertemine the enhancing immune function of cordyceps polysaccharide apple vinegar to mice. After the adult mice were feeded with high fat forage and chronically administered with different dosage of cordyceps polysaccharide apple vinegar, the serum total cholesterol (TC) and Triglyceride (TG) content was detected to determine the auxiliary lipid-lowering effect of cordyceps polysaccharide apple vinegar to mice. After the adult hyperglycemia model mice were chronically administered with different dosage of cordyceps polysaccharide apple vinegar, the blood glucose content was detected to determine the auxiliary hypoglycemic effect of cordyceps polysaccharide apple vinegar to mice. Results: In the aspect of anti-fatigue, it was shown that the loaned-swimming time of mice was significantly increased, while liver glycogen level was significantly elevated and area under the curve of blood lactate was significantly reduced in the cordyceps polysaccharide fruit vinegar group compared with the blank group. In the aspect of enhancing immune function, the swelling degree of ears was significantly reduced, and the clearance index and the phagocytosis index was significantly increased. In the aspect of auxiliary lipid-lowering, the serum total cholesterol (TC) and Triglyceride (TG) level were significantly reduced and the body weight of mice was lower than that of the control. In the aspect of auxiliary hypoglycemic activity, the blood glucose was significantly decreased. In addition, the biological activities of every aspect were proportional to the dose of cordyceps polysaccharide in fruit vinegar. And the efficacy of cordyceps polysaccharide fruit vinegar was better than that of cordyceps polysaccharide and fruit vinegar separately. Conclusions: Cordyceps polysaccharide fruit vinegar has the functions of anti-fatigue, enhancing immune function, auxiliary lipid-lowering and auxiliary hypoglycemic activity for mice.
