Analysis of Applied and Approved NSFC-funded Projects in the Field of Food Science in 2011

Abstract: This article is intended as a summary of official NSFC (National Natural Science Foundation of China) data on the application, appraisal and funding of projects in the filed of food science in 2011. Differences in the number of applied projects, application agents, applicants, age, etc are compared among the general program, fund for young scholars and fund for less developed regions in this field during 2010-2011 and statistical analysis is performed on the results of peer review of project innovation. Meanwhile, some problems existing in project application are briefly discussed. All these efforts will help relevant administrative personnel and applicants in understanding the current domestic situation of food science research and grasping the development trend and direction of food science, thus providing guidance on the application of 2012 annual NSFC-funded projects.
