Determination of Antibacterial Activity and Molecular Weight of Polypeptide Produceds by Two Strains of Lactobacillus acidophilus

Abstract:

The metabolites, polypeptides of Lactobacillus acidophilus La-1 and La-2 were isolated respectively. It was found experimentally that both of the polypeptides have some antibacterial activities against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus anthracis. SDS-PAGE analysis indicated that they have the same molecular weight of around 33 kD.
