Abstract:  In mixtrophic growth of S. platensis, when HCO3- concentration was low(e. g. 0. 05mol/L), organic by -- products prepuced by preferential assimilation of glucose would play an inhibitory role in its growth. When HCO3 - concentration was high(e. g. 0. 2mol/L), inhibitory role would be alleviated. As long as algal seed was not contaminated, 0. 05mol/L HCO3-could be used for S. platensis cultivation without influencing its growth under autotrophic growth condition in closed photobioreactor.
