Analysis of Fatty Acids in Sunflower Seed by GC/MS

Abstract: To determine the fatty acids in sunflower seed,the sunflower seed oil was extracted by Soxhlet extraction,the fatty acids in the oil were esterified by sodium hydroxide-methanol,and then analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). 4 fatty acids are identified in the sunflower seed,the main components are: unsaturated fatty acids in the sunflower seed.
