Abstract: Objective:To study the toxicity of Kojic acid on animals and thesafety assessment. Methods:Acute toxicity test,105 days feeding test.Result:Kojic acid had apparent acute toxicity on mice.LD50 was 2571 mg/kg bw.During the 105 days rat feeding test,Kojic acid had no apparent influences on rat groth, gross food utilization ratio, blood biochemical index, organ coefficient and partial blood index, but WBC,LYM obviously decreased,NEU obviously increased. There was dose-effect relationship between each dose test group.T3 and T4 were found out decreasing tendency.A few rat in the 500 mg/kg bw group appeared abnormal development of testis, thyoid gland mesenchymal hyperplasia and partial pathological variation of kidney and liver.Conclution:Kojic acid is the matter of low-grade toxicity. If it is used in high dosage,it may influence on animal’s growth and variation of organ’s struction and function.
