Abstract: Objective: To study the effects of tea polyphenols on rat body weight, body fat content, serum leptin concentration, and lipids. Methods: Young male rats were divided into four groups. The rats were given high fat diet or base diet containing different doses of tea polyphenols for four weeks. By the end of week eight, and the rats were sacrificed and their blood samples were taken, and the concentration of serum leptin and lipids were determined.Rusults:Tea polyphenols could reduce the level of body weight, lipids, and serum leptin.Cluclusion: Based on analysis on the change of body weight and serum leptin level, it referred that tea polyphenols could improve leptin-resising, which could be partly responsible for reducing body weight of fat rats.

Key words: tea polyphenols, leptin, serum lipid, body weight
