Abstract: A simple procedure was developed to determine contents of heavy metals in transgenic rapeseeds. After wet digestion of samples, five heavy metals,Such as Pb,Cd,Cu,Cr and Fe were determined by flame atomic absorption spectrometry(FAAS) or graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry(GFAAS) with regard to their concentrations, respectively. The experiments of standard addition were carried out to validate the proposed method, and good recoveries are present. According to the obtained concentrations of Pb,Cd,Cu,Cr and Fe in the transgenic rapeseeds and the non-transgenic rapeseeds,a conclusion can be made that there is no obvious difference in the contents of heavy metals between the two types of tested samples.
