Abstract: Objective:To study the toxicity of wheat bran peptide. Methods:The Ames test, bone marrow polychromatic erythrocyte micronucleus test, spermatogonial chromosomal aberrations test and comet assay were used to detect the toxicity of wheat bran peptide. Results:The LD50 of wheat bran peptide by i.g. to mice is more than 20 g/kg,no toxicity existing. If S9 activation or not, there are all negative results of the TA97,TA98,TA100 and TA102 strains in Ames test. In bone marrow polychromatic erythrocyte micronucleus test, spermatogonial chromosomal aberrations test and comet assay, there are not significant differences between the negative control and the treated groups(p>0.05) in dose of 2.5,5.0,10.0 g/kg bw respectively. The results of genetic toxicity tests are all negative in Ames test, bone marrow polychromatic erythrocyte micronucleus test, spermatogonial chromosomal aberrations test and comet assay. Conclusion:Wheat bran peptide has no toxicity.
