Abstract: A polysaccharide fraction was isolated and purified from rapeseed meal Huaza No.4 and named as WPS-1. The monosaccharide composition of WPS-1 was identified by HPLC, and its inhibitory effect on the in vitro and in vivo proliferation of Sarcoma-180 (S180) tumor cells was evaluated. Meanwhile, the effect on the immune response in S180-bearing mice was tested based on tumor weight, spleen weight, thymus weight, delayed-type hypersensitivity reaction to dinitrofluorobenzene (DNFB), the phagocytic capacity of peritoneal macrophages and splenocytes proliferation. Our findings indicates that WPS-1 have significant antitumor and immunomodulating functions.
